Re: 250 rebuild

Day 3 Thanks for the condolences and input. All went well today using a proper flywheel puller and lots of PSI. Yeah, I've blown a vise too! The fuel filter qualified me for free shipping  http://puch.nortonfastback.com/250/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/puller.jpg I've started making a video on m...

Re: 250 rebuild

DAY 2 . Alrighty - I've settled in to the new space and got warmed up by scraping off 50 years of baked on goop from the bottom of the engine. I then fashioned myself a clutch screwdriver out of a spade bit. http://puch.nortonfastback.com/250/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/IMG_0073.jpg http://puch.nort...

Re: 250 rebuild

Noel, I don't know why she melted down. One concern is I put it all back together and it happens again! I'm doing crank seals and will triple-check the oil pump. Ive been puttering around on it for 5 years, mostly at fairgrounds and back lanes. On the trip home from the DMV after making it it legal,...

Re: 250 rebuild

There's been no day two as my landlord tore down my shop walls, threw all my stuff in bins and moved it to another property. Ive had the space 12 years and its noted on my apt lease. They did this after going to court, which I won, and winning an appeal of the decision in my favour. So thats twice t...

Re: SGS 250 weak top end?

I just dropped off the barrels for a bore for my 25O. The piston box says 45.50 and the piston is marked 45.40 suggesting .10mm (4thou). A Motorwest says .0035" break in sheet here . Finally, Brian suggested that because the front piston takes all the heat and perhaps the clearance should be a bit b...

250 rebuild

Ok - so an engine melt down has forced me to dig into the engine. I've got pistons, barrels going for bore, gasket and seal kits at the ready and a deadline for June 15th! Day 1. Pull engine from frame. http://puch.nortonfastback.com/250/wp-content/uploads/2018/04/Puch_25sgs.jpg http://puch.nortonfa...
