I just insert the pistons into the barrels with the cylinder on the bench and then I just slide the piston pins in.. once the pins are in you simply prop the barrel on something of correct height (2 bits of clean 2x4 cut to the correct height) then just instal the circlips, pull the blocks apply gas...

clearance should be no less than 0.08mm front and rear for 175.

i run 0.10 cos I am running high comp

common problem haha

square port windows
long exhaust ports with a 45 degree bend laterally and 45 degree bend down doesnt seem conducive to good flow
doesnt happen with modern oils though :D

seems unconventional, if you want to wreck and engine you just put valve grinding compound in there and 1000 miles later its toast.

remember the engine vibrates a lot

are you sure they couldnt have vibrated down there.

nice one!

adding some pictures would be good :)

I just heat the speedo bushing housing with a torch and you can just slide it out with a flatblade :) then I press it back into a warmed case with a feeler gauge to ensure the clearance is correct.

A three jaw puller works fine for the main sprockets use plenty of heat with a torch to break it free. Use impacts on the nuts makes it easy. The Crank seals are brittle and flaky by 60 years id never expect reliability out of a puch with old seals. Ive seen several resurrected split singles seize b...
